One average everyday family noticed that they were beginning to gain extra weight and have some serious health issues. After some time, the parents realized that it was the result of following an unhealthy lifestyle and eating foods that were preventing them from losing weight and being healthy.
As they began to investigate the foods that they had been eating, they begin to see a pattern. They had been eating foods that were quick and easy to prepare. However, these foods were void of nutrition and in the long run, they were causing the family to gain weight and become ill.

At the top of the list, mom put Sugar. Sugar was horrible when taken in large doses. It could raise the levels of sugar in the blood Plus after the sugar had coursed through the body it left you feeling sluggish and tired. In short, the family was living on a sugar high.
To make matters worse, the sugar wound up making the person crave more, and it soon became an addiction. Mom considered an alternative such as artificial sweeteners. However, she realized that they were even worse and could lead to loss of energy, more cravings, and they would reset the body to need even more junk and junk food. Sugar had to go or be used in smaller portions such as one teaspoon of sugar per serving.
Margarine hit the list next. Who would’ve guessed this vegetable spread was on the list of 5 foods to never eat if you want to be healthy? Mom had been using margarine for a few reasons. It was less costly than the alternative of butter, and she believed that since it was made from vegetables, it was healthier. She couldn’t have been more wrong. Margarine has a lot of transfats in it, and it has a lot of other ingredients including those that will raise your cholesterol levels.

People are lured into eating more because the mistakenly believe that the word “diet” or “low-fat” mean that the products are better and healthier.
Last on the list was soda. Soda was delicious and tasted great, but it was full of empty calories. These calories would fill you up without providing any nutrition. Many people would drink two or more soda’s a day and soon realized that they were feeling lifeless and lazy after the effects of the soda wore off.
No more soda’s and more water was the change that made all the difference in the world. The water helped to fill us up, and we found that many times we were needing to be hydrated when we thought that we were hungry and had been reaching for foods that we didn’t need.
By removing these foods from our diet, limiting our intake of salt and focusing on the five food groups we soon began to lose the excess weight and found we were healthier and more energized than ever before.
With mom’s new found recipes, we were enjoying our meals more and ate home most of the time. Mom learned to make meals ahead of time so that on busier days all we had to do was heat dinner up or she would use the crockpot.
